The SLCON transport system consists of a single continuous belt that goes round sharp corners from
loading to discharge, eliminating the need for transfer points. The belt is open only during loading and discharge, the returning section is closed.This eliminates dust and spillage problems, making SICON an ideal conveying system for solid fuels such as coal, wood-chips, peat, straw and waste products.
Ash handling
ASH IN VARIOUS FORMS presents a problem to most power plants. But with the SICON enclosed conveying system the main dust and spillage sources are eliminated.
In collaboration with NEI John Thompson Australia, SICON has introduced a new complete ash handling technique. The fly ash is "conditioned" with 10 % water and mixed with the bottom ash before transport ation to the disposal area in the enclosed conveyor developed by SICON.
The SICON system at Mount Piper Power Plant consists of two 360 tph conveyors providing 100% stand-by capacity. The conveyors extend some 800 metres from the main storage silo to the ash disposal area.
