BSD 500 BELT SLIP DETECTION SYSTEM
The Process Automation BSD 500 belt slip detection system is smart.
Yesteryear's belt slip detectors were exactly what the name implies. It is a device to indicate that the belt is slipping.
This warning usually comes too late. As with the old saying "to close the door after the horse has bolted", the warning comes when disaster is already at hand. To be able to start the belt again, one often has to remove much of the process material off the belt at the cost of production losses.
In addition to the relay output indicating that the belt slip has exceeded the allowable limit, the Process Automation BSD 501 belt slip detection system can also provide an analogue (4-20mA) output proportional to the belt speed.
The BSD-501 may also be incorporated into your Profibus Fieldbus Network in line with modern plant integration trends.
The BSD-501 Belt Speed Switch provides the following advantages:
- High sensitivity.
- Provides warning that belt slip has started to occur and steps need to be taken to prevent further/serious slip.
- Extremely simple to install.
- Protection to IP66.
- Fieldbus Network capable (Profibus).
- Locates on the clean side of the belt - reducing build-up on the sensing wheel.
- The BSD can be set precisely to the allowed limits (Setpoint Control) and may cut back the feed rate or stop the feed altogether.
