Commissioning Check List

Check if/for:

  1. Foundation bolts holding the bore plates are tight.
  2. Level of base-plate on packers. Alignment should be better than 5mm per 1m length. This is for correct oil distribution in the gearbox to all bearings and gears.
  3. Gearbox mounting bolts are tight. Where external loads are expected, thrust blocks should be installed.
  4. Coupling mounting must be secure.
  5. Motor mounting bolts must be tightened to specified torque.
  6. The alignment of the low speed coupling. Refer to coupling specifications.
  7. The hollow shaft torque locking element must be secure to specified torque settings.
  8. That no lubricant is present on end of shaft pulley or hollow shaft.
  9. The alignment of high speed coupling and motor is acceptable. Refer to approved professional for verification to specified tolerance.
  10. Check the oil level of gearbox on the dipstick. Ensure that the dipstick is fully inserted to obtain level.
  11. Check dipstick belongs to the gearbox and the serial number corresponds.
  12. If holdback supplied check direction of rotation. (Freewheel direction is the same as intended motor rotation)
  13. Lubricate holdback if required.
  14. Check breather for blockages and clean. Possibly replace filter element.
  15. Check that reaction arm is properly installed.
  16. Visually assess the gearbox system and report or note damage.
  17. Verify that all safety guards are correctly installed.
  18. Ensure grease into labyrinth seals are greased.
  19. Check motor power against gearbox nameplate. Question if motor has higher power rating than the gearbox.
  20. Assess general condition of drive house. Ventilation and operational obstructions should be cleared.
