Introduction

Electric motors are usually the prime movers in any conveyor system. Whenever electric power is available, the most practical method of driving the belt conveyor is to make use of an electric motor. 

For practical reasons industry has standardised on a range of the motor frame sizes, power ratings and electrical power supplies to these motors.
