Fluid couplings

Introduction

Fluid couplings are an integral component in a belt conveyors' drive assembly and are installed between the drive motor and the reducer unit.

The improvements and range of designs and features of fluid couplings available to the engineer has been driven by the need to improve the startup characteristics of a conveyor and to increase the efficiency and reliability of fluid couplings in general.

This section of the Ckit Handbook outlines some of the theory behind fluid coupling selection and provides catalogue-type details relevant to a number of fluid coupling suppliers' products.
