Sole Plates

Sole Plates

1. Introduction

This section deals specifically with sole plates as they apply to conveyor pulleys.

The correct selection of sole plates depends on the plummer block selection, load induced by the conveyor belt and pulley and, to an extent, the structural support detail.

Sole plates are not always used, especially in instances where the conveyors and pulleys are small. In cases where the pulleys are large, heavy and require a higher degree of installation accuracy, sole plates allow the pulley assembly to be adjusted in-situ with minimal effort while enhancing the alignment.

This section of the Ckit Handbook sets out the generally accepted sole plate details and selection requirements, based on standard plummer block sizes.

Pulley bearings and plummer blocks have been included in this section on 'pulleys' under their own headings and can be accessed by selecting the required topic on the contents bar to the left of your screen.
