Pulley Bearings
Design and Selection of Pulley Bearings
In order to select the correct bearings for a a pulley application, the conveyor design must have been complete and the following details are required :-
a) Conveyor belt tensions under maximum and 'normal' operating conditions, for each pulley.
b) The application i.e. whether the pulley is a bend, snub, take-up, tail or drive pulley.
c) The belt width and pulley face width must have been finalised.
d) The bearing centers and shaft deflection must have been calculated and thus the shaft diameters at the bearings known.
e) The duty of the conveyor and the environment in which the bearing assemblies are to operate must have been assessed. To perform a conveyor design calculation, click here or on the "Calculations" tag at the top of your screen.
Following this, the pulley bearings can be selected.
