Fenner® Shaft Couplings
Choosing the appropriate coupling to connect two shafts deserves careful consideration.
Among the long list of variables which might affect any particular installation, perhaps the following will be the most important:
- Torque capacity
- Accommodation of axial, parallel or angular misalignment. If any one of these is present; is the coupling capable of running with this mis-alignment without putting a strain on bearings or wearing itself out too rapidly?
- Reduction of vibration and effects of sudden load changes.
- Consequences of atmospheric or other operating conditions.
- Ease of fitting and removal.
- Effect of failure of the flexible component.
- Maintenance requirements and the ability to easily detect wear.
- Price and availability, particularly of spares.
More often than not some of these requirements may conflict and compromise has to be made. Within these pages will be found details of the range of Fenner Shaft Couplings, a choice from which will satisfy most applicational needs.
FENAFLEX® - incorporate a flexible tyre or element in shear and provide a high degree of vibration damping, shock load protection and misalignment capacity.
FENAFLEX® COUPLINGS
H.R.C. - general purpose couplings, having a flexible component in compression, and, whilst not providing the same high degree of flexibility and shock resistance as Fenaflex, come into their own where minimum diameter and economy are paramount.
DISC-TYPE - general purpose coupling incorporating steel pins and synthetic rubber disc. Only available with Taper-Lock® Bushes.
RIGID COUPLINGS - available with Taper-Lock® Bushes for ease of installation.
ESSEX COUPLINGS - available with solid hubs or (finish bored and keywayed to special order).
