Transfer Points

Introduction

Transfer point technology is a broad subject which includes issues such as the design of transfer chutes, material trajectories, material characteristics and their influence on transfer point design, containment of dust and prevention of spillage, and so on.

In setting out any transfer point the designer must consider minimising spillage, containment of dust generated in the material transfer process, the influence of the material characteristics and behavior on the layout of the chutework, degradation of the product and the effects of the loading process on the receiving conveyor.

This section of the Engineering Handbook provides information from industry regarding the various developments and considerations in the process of transfer point design.

A number of technologies and techniques have been developed to improve transfer points over the years and information relating to techniques and equipment is provided here, together with generic information regarding transfer point design.
